Magneto page progress

Description

Some of you may wonder how I make my artwork neat and clean even if they're not inked. Here's how I do it.

I'll be showing the interior of Magneto story I did from Marvel Comics Presents#2.

First, I make a thumbnail of the page I'm gonna do. Now my trick here is to make this thumbnail somewhat detailed in a certain way. I even shade the blacks though I dont have any idea why I do this. Maybe I just want to see how they look like and if the shadows and shadings are correct and according to my taste (yeah right).

Then I enlarge the thumbnail according to the size of my bristol board which is 10"x15". Tape the enlarged thumbnail at the back of the bristol board while making sure the lines are properly placed like the margins and stuff.

Finally, with the help of my enormous light box, I trace the rough and detailed thumbnail using my HB mechanical pencil. Now in my opinion this is like using the inking technique but without the ink. Its like tightning your own rough premilinary pencil on the bristol board. And after long hours of hand-numbing, back-aching tight penciling, this is were my PC comes in handy. I scan it then go to photoshop and adjust the layers then Voila!

Now with this technique, I woudnt recommend it to everyone for this is time-consuming. But for me its well worth it. I'm just a perfectionist when it comes to pages so forgive me:D

Maybe next time I'll show you guys how i erase the whole page with my tongue...I know Neil Cervantes would love to see me do that...hehehe...peace Neil!
